AMCHAM Announces Newly Expanded Leadership Group for 2022

​AMCHAM 2022 Election Results, the largest and most diverse group in the organization’s history

  

December 10, 2021 - The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM; Chairman and CEO James Kim) has announced the results of its annual leadership election for 2022. The AMCHAM Board of Governors now includes 41 total members, including seven women and several regional managers. This is the largest and most diverse group in the organization’s history.

 

James Kim remains Chairman & CEO of AMCHAM under contract. Henry An, Senior Partner at Samil PricewaterhouseCoopers, has been elected to serve as Chairman of the Board of Governors. Former Chairman Jeffrey Jones will serve on the Board of Directors as Chairman of AMCHAM’s Partners for the Future Foundation.

 

Patrick Storey, Country Manager, Korea and Mongolia of Visa International (Asia-Pacific) Korea, Edward Kopp, Country President of ACE American Fire and Marine Insurance Company (Chubb in Korea), and Kevin Peters, Managing Director of MSD Korea, were newly elected to the Board of Governors. Balaka Niyazee, Senior Vice President of Procter & Gamble Korea, Kaher Kazem, President, CEO & Chairman of GM Korea, and YouMe Jeon, Managing Director of PERSOLKELLY APAC, were re-elected unanimously and will begin new terms. Each Governor has a term limit of two three-year terms.

 

Chairman & CEO James Kim said, “Despite the pandemic, AMCHAM recorded its best operating performance in 2021 thanks to the contributions of the Board of Governors. In particular, I am extremely proud to boast the largest number of women members and the highest number of Asia Regional leaders on the Board of Governors in our history. With this impressive group of leaders, AMCHAM will continue to improve the existing business environment in Korea and position Korea to be even more competitive in drawing more FDI and making Korea a Regional Headquarters in Asia.”

 

He commended former Chairman of the Board of Governors Jeffrey Jones for his service, saying, “I want to especially thank Jeffrey Jones for his dedication to AMCHAM. He will continue to be an extremely important leader and an asset at AMCHAM.”

주한미국상공회의소, 역대 최대 규모의 새로운 리더십 그룹 발표

다양성과 영향력 두루 갖춘 2022년 이사진 구성 마쳐

 

2021년 12월 10일 - 주한미국상공회의소(암참; 회장 겸 대표이사 제임스 김)가 2022년 암참을 이끌어갈 회장단 및 이사진에 대한 연례 선거 결과를 발표했다. 2022년 이사회는 7명의 여성 임원과 다수의 아태지역 총괄 대표를 포함하고 있으며, 총 41명의 임원으로 구성되었다. 이로써 암참은 그 어느 때 보다 다양한 산업군을 아우르며 보다 포괄적이고 영향력 있는 활동을 기대케 하는 사상 최대 규모의 이사회를 꾸릴 수 있게 되었다.

 

제임스 김 암참 회장 겸 대표이사 체제는 계약에 의거 변동 없이 그대로 유지된다. 신임 이사회 의장으로는 안익흥 삼일PwC회계법인 부대표가 선출되었으며, 전임 이사회 의장인 제프리 존스 변호사는 암참 미래의동반자재단 이사장 자격으로 회장단에 이름을 올렸다.

 

한편 이사진에는 패트릭 스토리 비자코리아 사장, 에드워드 콥 에이스손해보험 사장, 케빈 피터스 한국MSD 대표이사 등이 새롭게 선임됐다. 또한, 발라카 니야지 한국피앤지 대표, 카허 카젬 한국지엠 사장/대표이사, 전유미 퍼솔켈리 코리아 대표 등은 만장일치로 재선임돼 새 임기를 시작한다. 이사진들은 각각 3년 임기를 지내게 되며, 한 차례 연임이 가능하다.

 

제임스 김 암참 회장 겸 대표이사는 “팬데믹 상황에도 불구하고 암참이 2021년 역대 최고 성과를 달성할 수 있었던 것은 모두 암참 이사회의 노력과 기여 덕분” 이라고 밝히며, “특히 역대 최다인 7명의 여성 임원과 다양한 산업분야의 아태지역 총괄 대표가 이사회에 두루 포진하게 된 것을 매우 자랑스럽게 생각한다. 앞으로도 암참은 새 이사회와 긴밀히 협력하며 비즈니스 환경을 지속적으로 개선, 한국으로의 외국인 직접 투자를 꾸준히 유치하는 등 아시아 비즈니스 허브로서 대한민국의 경쟁력을 극대화하기 위한 노력을 아끼지 않을 것이다.” 라고 말했다. 그는 또한 이 어서 제프리 존스 전 이사회 회장에게도 공(功)을 돌리며, "특히 제프리 존스가 지난 임기 동안 이사회 회장으로서 암참에 헌신적인 역할을 해 준 것에 깊은 감사를 표한다.” 라고 말하며, “앞으로도 그는 계속해서 암참에 있어 매우 중요한 리더이자 자산이 될 것이다.” 라고 덧붙였다.
