LG Energy Solution to supply cylindrical battery to U.S. Bear Robotics
By Pulse - LG Energy Solution Ltd. has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Bear Robotics Inc., a Silicon Valley-based mobility platform startup specializing in autonomous robots, to supply cylindrical batteries and collaborate on technology development, the South Korean company said on Monday.
Under the MOU, LG Energy Solution will exclusively supply its cylindrical battery model 2170 for Bear Robotics’ lineup of service and industrial robots starting next year, including the Servi Plus and AMR Cart, a logistics-focused autonomous mobile robot. The two companies also plan to explore further avenues for technical collaboration.
LG Energy Solution said that the MOU highlights the company’s competitiveness in the cylindrical battery market, offering not only cost advantages but also superior safety and reliability.
With this partnership, LG Energy Solution aims to accelerate its expansion into the robotics sector, a market with significant growth potential.
The Korean company has previously announced plans to diversify its product and customer portfolio beyond the electric vehicle (EV) market, targeting non-EV sectors with high growth potential.
Bear Robotics, founded in 2017 in Silicon Valley by Google engineer-turned-entrepreneur John Ha, is a mobility platform startup specializing in artificial intelligence and autonomous robots.
The company pioneered the world’s first serving robot and has since expanded its operations to over 20 countries, including Korea, Japan, and North America.
