Posco, Hanwha, KAC jointly develop vertiport for flying cars

BY SARAH CHEA, Korea JoongAng Daily - Posco has joined forces with the Korea Airports Corporation (KAC) and Hanwha to develop a vertiport for urban air mobility (UAM), also known as air taxis. The three companies signed an agreement on Wednesday to cooperate on the development of the vertiport, where the UAM vehicles take off and land vertically, and consider deploying the vehicles in the planned Jamsil-Suseo routes in southern Seoul. Posco will offer suitable steel for constructing the vertiports, while Hanwha will share its know-how in construction and KAC will utilize its expertise in air transportation. The Korean government is currently pushing hard for the eco-friendly mode of transportation, with a goal of running UAM in the metropolitan areas by 2025, and expanding the services starting in 2026.
