Posco International begins construction at new Polish plant
By Pulse - Posco International Corp. said on Wednesday that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new plant for drive motor cores in Brzeg, Poland. The new Posco International Poland e-Mobility (PI-PEM) plant is projected to be operational by mid-2025.
The drive motor
core, a pivotal component of the drivetrain in nearly all types of eco-friendly
vehicles, will be the primary focus of the new facility’s production line.
Posco International plans to manufacture 1.03 million units of drive motor
cores for electric vehicles (EVs) produced by Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp.
in Europe initially, with full-scale operations expected in the second half of
2025.
As part of the
company‘s goals in Europe, Posco International aspires to establish a
production system capable of manufacturing 1.2 million drive motor cores a year
at the Polish plant alone by 2030.
