Hyundai Motor Group's U.S. EV sales jump 60.8 percent in H1

 

 

Korea JoongAng Daily - Hyundai Motor Group's electric vehicle sales in the United States during the first six months of the year jumped by 60.8 percent from a year ago, according to an industry report Monday.

 

According to the U.S. automotive market analysis report by the Korea Automobile & Mobility Association (KAMA), battery electric vehicles of Hyundai Motor, Kia and Genesis brands sold in the United States during the January-June period totaled 61,843 units, compared to the 38,457 units from a year ago.

 

Combined sales of EVs, plug-in hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell models by the Korean brands in the United States amounted to 72,528 units, up 46.4 percent from a year ago, KAMA said.

 

The combined market share of the Korean EV brands in the U.S. EV market came to 10.2 percent, up 2.8 percentage points from last year.

 

Hyundai Motor and Genesis combined sold 32,592 EVs in the United States during the period, up 32.5 percent from a year ago, thanks to enhanced local sales promotions for key models such as the Ioniq 5.

 

According to KAMA, Kia saw a 111 percent increase in EV sales, reaching 29,251 units, thanks to strong sales of models such as the EV9.

 

Of individual models, Hyundai's Ioniq 5 was the fourth bestselling EV model in the U.S., selling 18,728 units. Kia's EV6 and EV9 ranked 10th and 11th, selling 10,941 units and 9,671 units, respectively, in the country.
