Joung Kim, as a former member of the Korean Navy UDT/SEAL counter-terrorism unit, served in various operations along the NLL, the disputed maritime demarcation area between North and South Korea. He began his career working with private security companies, starting with Control Risks in the maritime security department for anti-piracy tasks across the Indian Ocean. He then moved to Aegis Defence, where he worked for a Gas & Oil project in post-conflict environments in Iraq for a combined nine years of experience in both sectors. He transitioned into the corporate sector, serving as a security manager at Samsung SDS's Europe HQ in the Netherlands, where he executed the supply chain security strategy for its overall European operations before joining International-SOS Korea.
