Hyundai Motor opens certification center for EV charging devices and services

Kim Hyun-bin, The Korea Times - Hyundai Motor Group has partnered with Korea
Testing Certification (KTC), an internationally recognized evaluation agency,
to open a center that assesses the quality of charging devices and services for
electric vehicles (EVs), the automotive conglomerate said, Monday.
Hyundai
Motor Group held an opening ceremony that day for the EV charging device &
service quality verification (E-CQV) center at the KTC's headquarters in Gunpo,
Gyeonggi Province. Hyundai Motor Group and KTC collaborated to establish the
center seeking to improve the quality of charging stations and contributing to
the growth of the ecosystem for domestic charging station manufacturers. The
plan is to implement the EV charging quality certification system by the end of
the year.
The
E-CQV center consists of five standardized quality evaluation criteria: charger
durability, reliability, actual charging performance, security, communication
compatibility and electromagnetic compatibility. These criteria will be made
available to the public.
"Establishing
the E-CQV center allows customers to have a reliable charging experience
without worrying about malfunctions. Hyundai Motor Group is committed to
leading the development of the charging ecosystem's quality," a Hyundai
Motor official said.
The
automotive group intends to incorporate the certification criteria based on the
quality verification system and quality management expertise gained from its
collaboration with KTC, as well as the development and operation of the E-pit
ultra-fast charging station into the EV charging quality certification system.
KTC
will provide the necessary site, equipment and facilities for the E-CQV center
and will be responsible for conducting and issuing certification documents.
The
E-CQV center also aims to provide integrated legal certification services for
the global EV market, including markets in North America and Europe, to
streamline the time and costs involved in obtaining certification for charging
station manufacturers, according to Hyundai Motor Group.
