SK
hynix wins 2 top honors at 2025 GSA Awards

By Lee
Gyu-lee, The Korea Times - SK hynix earned two prestigious honors at the Global
Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) Awards 2025.
The
company said Sunday that it won the Best Financially Managed Semiconductor
Company Award in the over $1 billion annual sales category, as well as the
Outstanding Asia-Pacific Semiconductor Company Award. The awards ceremony
happened Thursday (local time) in Santa Clara, California.
This
is the second time the company has won the best financially managed accolade
since 2017, reaffirming its status as one a leading semiconductor company.
Founded
in 1996, the GSA Awards are considered the semiconductor industry’s most
authoritative honors, recognizing companies for leadership, financial
performance and technological innovation.
The
Best Financially Managed Semiconductor Company Award evaluates a firm’s
financial soundness and overall performance, focusing not only on revenue scale
but also on real financial management capabilities and operational efficiency.
The Outstanding Asia-Pacific Semiconductor Company Award honors companies in
the region for product excellence, vision, leadership and market success.
“The
industry faced difficulties from an unexpected downturn just two years ago, but
we quickly overcame them thanks to our advanced artificial intelligence (AI)
memory technology, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM), receiving global
recognition for this achievement,” the company said in a press release. “We
will continue to grow based on our overwhelming technology leadership in the AI
memory market.”
The
awards highlight SK hynix’s technological excellence and customer-centered
management, especially its proactive rollout of groundbreaking HBM solutions
that met rapidly rising demand in the global AI market.
Investments
in technology from a long-term perspective and the establishment of a global
network have led to the company’s improved performance and strengthened
financial soundness.
The
company has set new quarterly performance records this year. As of the third
quarter, its cumulative revenue reached 64 trillion won ($43.38 billion) with
operating profit at 28 trillion won, putting it on track to surpass last year’s
record of 66 trillion won in revenue and 23 trillion won in operating profit.
Financial
stability has also improved significantly. Cash and cash equivalents reached
27.9 trillion won at the end of the third quarter, up 10.9 trillion won from
the previous quarter. With total debt at 24.1 trillion won, the company has
moved into a net-cash position of roughly 4 trillion won.
SK
hynix is accelerating large-scale investments to solidify leadership in the AI
memory sector. The M15X fab in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, opened its
cleanroom in October and is preparing for equipment setup, planning to begin
HBM production in the first half of next year.
It is
also building a semiconductor cluster in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, which
launched construction in February and is ahead of the original completion
schedule.
