  • Prime Minister Han vows to strengthen Korea's investment environment at AMCHAM dialogue

By Park Jun-han, Arirang TV - To discuss strengthening Korea's investment environment and reaffirm strong partnerships with the U.S., Prime Minister Han Seong-sook attended a special dialogue hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea. Park Jun-han reports.

Around 200 government officials and global business leaders gathered in Seoul on Friday as Korea's Prime Minister Han Seong-sook outlined the government's plans to attract foreign investment, ease regulations, and ensure favorable conditions for foreign businesses operating in Korea.

"The United States has the world's leading technology in artificial intelligence and AI semiconductors. Korea has world-class manufacturing capabilities and strong digital infrastructure. I believe that by combining the strengths of our two countries, we can create new opportunities to lead the global market in advanced industries, including AI and semiconductors, biotechnology, and future mobility."

Throughout the event, American Chamber of Commerce in Korea Chairman James Kim welcomed the Korean government's commitment and emphasized the need to strengthen Korea's AI ecosystem and competitiveness as a destination for global investment and regional headquarters.

"We believe this growing partnership also presents an important opportunity for Korea to further strengthen its position as a leading business and an investment hub in Asia. To realize this opportunity, predictability, transparency and close communication with the private sector will be essential."

In a closed-door session that followed, business leaders shared the practical challenges they face while operating in Korea.

They offered policy recommendations on regulatory reforms to help foster long-term innovation.

Moving forward, both the Korean government and AMCHAM aim to create a virtuous cycle where industries in both countries can grow together, driving mutual economic success. Park Jun-han, Arirang News.
