Times, AMCHAM to hold AI Forum Tuesday

Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) will co-host AI Forum 2025 to discuss Korea’s future
in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, under the theme “Global AI Race:
Korea’s Role in Shaping a Tech-Driven Economy.”
Scheduled
for Tuesday at the Conrad Seoul in Yeouido, the event will bring together
influential voices from industry, academia and government, highlighting Korea’s
growing leadership in AI and digital innovation.
The
forum will commence with opening remarks by AMCHAM Korea Chairman James Kim and
Korea Times President-Publisher Oh Young-jin.
President
Lee Jae Myung will convey his congratulatory messages through Lee Kyu-youn,
senior presidential secretary for public relations. The event will also feature
remarks from Rep. Maeng Sung-kyu, chairperson of the National Assembly’s Land
Infrastructure and Transport Committee, and Jim Heller, deputy chief of mission
at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul.
For
special remarks, leading mobile carrier SK Telecom CEO Ryu Young-sang and
Carlyle Group Chief Commercial Officer Victor Gustaf Gao will share their
insights on Korea’s competitive edge in the global AI race.
The
first panel discussion will center on the industrial perspective of the global
AI race, focusing on digital transformation and AI-driven business across
sectors. Moderated by software developer CODIT Corp. CEO Chung Ji-eun, the
session will gather PTC Chief Revenue Officer Robert Dahdah, Hyundai Motor
Securities researcher Roh Geun-chang, Visa International Korea Country Manager
Patrick Storey and Microsoft Korea Enterprise Commercial Lead Hoon-Sang Kim.
Following
the panel discussion, the forum will present a fireside chat with Kim Hyun-soo,
the co-founder and CEO of Superb AI, moderated by professor Lim Jong-in from
the Korea University School of Cybersecurity. Under the theme “Shaping
Tomorrow's Industry with Physical AI," they will discuss physical AI as
both a general-purpose and specialized model, provide updates on leading
countries and companies, and examine Korea’s unique strengths as a
manufacturing powerhouse in this emerging field.
The
forum will conclude with a special presentation from Kim Neung-sik,
commissioner of the Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority.
