By Park Jae-hyuk, The Korea Times - The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the North Gyeongsang Provincial Government to deepen economic collaboration and support the successful hosting of the 2025 APEC summit in the province's city of Gyeongju.

AMCHAM said Sunday that the signing ceremony was held in the historic city on Friday to strengthen economic cooperation with the province and attract foreign investment to the region ahead of the international event taking place in November.

Through this agreement, AMCHAM and North Gyeongsang Province will work hand in hand to position the province as a premier investment destination for global businesses, focusing on expanding investment opportunities, strengthening industry engagement and enhancing the region's role as a hub for international commerce.

They also agreed to co-host networking events and engage with multinational companies to drive business expansion in the region.

"It is especially meaningful to formalize this agreement in Gyeongju, which will soon be in the global spotlight as the host of the 2025 APEC summit," AMCHAM Chairman James Kim said.

"As an Executive Committee Member of the 2025 APEC CEO Summit Organizing Committee, I look forward to working closely with Gov. Lee and the Korean Government to facilitate meaningful dialogue between global business leaders and policymakers."

North Gyeongsang Province Gov. Lee Cheol-woo said that the 2025 APEC summit presents an invaluable opportunity for the province to expand cooperation with global companies and enhance its investment-friendly environment.

"We are committed to making every effort to establish the province as a premier destination for international investors," he said.
