Individuals residing in Korea — including foreign nationals and Koreans with foreign assets — face inheritance tax risks to their entire global estate.
Korea's inheritance tax, which can reach up to 50%, applies to individuals who pass away while a resident of Korea, regardless of citizenship. Because Korea applies this tax to assets held overseas as well as assets located in Korea, these rules can create significant inheritance tax exposure for expats and cross-border families.
In this AMCHAM seminar, experts from Bae, Kim & Lee LLC (BKL) will help participants understand these risks and new reporting requirements for overseas trusts, and will discuss practical strategies for managing cross-border estate and inheritance tax exposure.
The program will be followed by a Q&A session and networking reception.
