Chairperson Ju will outline the KFTC’s key priorities and policy agenda for 2025, sharing his insights and vision for the future of Korea’s competition policy landscape and fair trade environment.

    About the Speaker
    • Korea Fair Trade Commission Chairperson Biung-Ghi Ju

      Professor Biung-Ghi Ju holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Rochester (2001), following his M.A. (1995) and B.A. (1993) in Economics from Seoul National University. He is also a graduate of Moonil High School in Seoul.

      Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Ju has served in numerous academic and policy leadership roles. In 2025, he was appointed Director of the Korean Economic Association and a Council Member of the Association of Korean Economic Studies. He previously served as President of the Korean Association of Social Sciences (2024) and as a member of the Sub Council on International Economy within the National Economic Advisory Council (2021). His public service experience also includes membership in the Committee on Cooperative Profit-Sharing at KOFCA (2019–2023), the Government-Civil Joint Task Force on Win-Win Cooperation (2019), the Presidential Committee on Income-led Growth (2018–2020), and the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Reform (2018–2019).

      Professor Ju has held several key roles within academic associations, including President (2018–2019), Vice President (2017–2018), and Editor-in-Chief (2016–2018) of the Korean Association of Applied Economics. He has also contributed to international scholarship as an editor for the Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics (2010–2015). Since 2013, he has directed the Center for Distributive Justice at the Institute of Economic Research at Seoul National University.

      He began his academic career as a professor at the University of Kansas (2001–2006), later joining Korea University (2006–2010), and has served as a professor in the Department of Economics at Seoul National University since 2010, currently on leave.
