    EVENT DESCRIPTION
    The Financial Services and Capital Markets Committee of AmCham Korea will host a timely seminar titled Stablecoins & the Future of Financial Markets: Regulation, Infrastructure, and Global & Domestic Impact, examining how stablecoins are reshaping global finance and regulatory frameworks. The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Yesha Yadav of Vanderbilt University Law School, a globally recognized authority on cryptocurrency regulation, digital asset governance, and financial market structure. The discussion will be moderated by Chris Minsung Kim, Senior Foreign Attorney at Bae, Kim & Lee (BKL), bringing together leading industry and regulatory perspectives.

    Panelist Andres Kim, Expansion Manager at Tether (USDT), will provide insights into global adoption trends, market expansion, and the evolving role of stablecoins in cross-border liquidity. Hyobong Kim, a former senior official at the Financial Supervisory Service and now a partner at Bae, Kim & Lee (BKL), will offer a unique perspective shaped by her direct involvement in developing Korea’s virtual asset regulatory framework, including the Act on the Protection of Virtual Asset Users. Together, the speakers will explore global regulatory developments, institutional adoption, payment infrastructure integration, and the strategic implications of stablecoins for Korea, the Asia-Pacific region, and beyond.

    About the Speaker
    • [Speaker] Yesha Yadav, Professor, Vanderbilt University Law School

      Yesha Yadav's research interests lie in financial market regulation, securities regulation, digital assets and payments, where she has written extensively on the emergence of stablecoins and their regulation.

      Before joining Vanderbilt's Law faculty, Professor Yadav worked as a legal counsel with the World Bank in its finance, private-sector development and infrastructure unit, where she specialized in financial regulation and insolvency, and creditor-debtor rights. She has also practiced in the London and Paris offices of Clifford Chance in the firm's financial regulation and derivatives group. As part of her work in payments regulation, she advised the European Payments Council on the establishment of the Single Euro Payments Area, where she advised on the development of common regulatory and operational standards for payments across the European Economic Area and Switzerland.

      Professor Yadav has served as honorary advisor to India’s Financial Services Law Reform Commission and on the Atlantic Council’s Task Force on Divergence, Transatlantic Financial Reform and G-20 Agenda. She has served as a member of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Technology Advisory Committee, where she served as Vice-Chair of the Distributed Ledger Technology Subcommittee and was a member of the Algorithmic Trading Subcommittees. Professor Yadav is a current member of Nasdaq’s Hearing Panel and sits on the Board of Advisors of the Digital Dollar Project. She is also serving on the Board of the Fintech Foundation.

      Professor Yadav earned an M.A. in Law and Modern Languages (First Class) at the University of Cambridge, after which she earned an LL.M. at Harvard Law School.

    • [Speaker] Hyobong Kim, Partner, Bae, Kim & Lee (BKL)

      Hyobong Kim is well-versed in both regulations and market practice in digital finance and virtual assets with expertise and knowhow based on her experience of working for the Financial Supervisory Service for over a decade.

      Having graduated from the Judicial Research and Training Institute, Ms. Kim dealt with the improvement of fund and trust systems, mediation of disputes over private equity funds, and digital finance cases at the Financial Supervisory Service. Since 2022, she has focused on supporting the establishment of virtual asset regulations, such as the enactment of the Act on the Protection of Virtual Asset Users and its subordinate statutes and the establishment of self-regulations on the listing of virtual asset on domestic crypto platforms.

      Ms. Kim earned her LL.B. from Yonsei University and graduated from the Judicial Research and Training Institute. She earned her LL.M. from Columbia Law School and completed the professional M.B.A. program at Sungkyunkwan University. She has deep understanding and balanced perspective in domestic and international laws as well as corporate management and financial market practices.
    • [Speaker] Chris Kim, Senior Foreign Attorney, Bae, Kim & Lee (BKL)

      Chris Kim is a partner (senior foreign attorney) at Bae, Kim & Lee LLC. His primary areas of practice include financial regulations, regulatory investigation, and funds and investment management. He also advises on securities, licensing, derivatives and general compliance matters. Before joining the firm, he served as head of legal at Barclays Korea, where he advised on complex regulatory matters, various products and transactions. He has also worked at a number of global banks in Hong Kong, Singapore and Korea, including Credit Suisse and J.P. Morgan.
