    EVENT DESCRIPTION
    The Korea–U.S. industrial partnership has long been a cornerstone of mutual business success in a rapidly changing global marketplace. This partnership continues to evolve into a cross-sector collaboration among startups, academia, government, and large companies.
    This joint meeting of the SME Collaboration Committee and the Government & International Affairs Committee will highlight how industry and policy leaders are fostering innovation and entrepreneurship across sectors.

    Qualcomm will share how it delivers AI computing solutions to Korean SMEs and startups for drones, robotics, and IoT devices. KISED (Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development), under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS), will introduce its open innovation programs and successful SME collaboration models. George Mason University will present how its Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship drives cross-sector cooperation between academia and industry.

    The session will also include a recap of APEC 2025 and discussion of the Gyeongju Declaration 2025, which emphasized enabling business environments for SMEs and startups by reducing regulatory barriers, improving supply chain connectivity, and accelerating digital and AI transformation.

    Together, the discussion will explore opportunities to build global partnerships that drive sustainable growth, innovation, and inclusive economic development.

    About the Speaker
    • [Speaker] Yeokyung Yoon, Director of Global Expansion Team, Korea Institute of Startup and Entrepreneurship Development (KISED)

      Yeokyung Yoon is Director at the Department of Global Partnership for Startups at the Korea Institute of Startup and Entrepreneurship Development (KISED), a government-affiliated organization under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS). KISED serves as the principal government institution supporting startup creation, commercialization, and global expansion. Yeokyung has over 15 years of experience in startup policy and global cooperation, leading programs that bridge Korean entrepreneurs with international investors, accelerators, and innovation networks. She holds degrees from KAIST and Sungkyunkwan University.
    • [Speaker & Panelist] Andy Park, Head of Government Affairs, Qualcomm Korea

      Andy Park is the head of Government Affairs for Qualcomm Korea. In this capacity he is responsible for shaping public policy and driving Qualcomm’s collaboration with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and association partners. He represents the interest of the company in Korea and is responsible for developing and executing company strategies and plans, with focused areas of radio communication, AI, V2X, IoT, network technologies, semiconductors, IPs, among others.
    • [Speaker] Joshua K. Park, Campus Dean, George Mason University Korea

      Joshua K. Park has been appointed as the Campus Dean of Mason Korea, from Fall Semester, 2024. Prior to joining George Mason, he served as the Dean of SolBridge International School of Business, where he was instrumental in the school’s rapid growth and internationalization. Under his leadership, SolBridge attained AACSB re-accreditation, featured twice in the AACSB “Innovations that Inspire” spotlight, and became renowned for its diverse student body and innovative programs, drawing nearly 1,300 students from over 80 countries.

      Dean Park holds a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Pomona College. His academic journey is complemented by a diverse range of professional roles, including positions as a strategic advisor and visiting professor at prominent institutions both in Korea and abroad, such as Beijing Foreign Studies University and KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School. His experience in public policy, business, negotiation, and debate is reflected in his numerous publications, books, and over 300 seminars and workshops worldwide.
    • [Panelist] JK Aier, Senior Associate Dean, George Mason University

      Dr. JK Aier is the senior associate dean for academic affairs and global engagement and an associate professor of accounting in the Costello College of Business at George Mason University. In his current role, he oversees all academic programs, student career services, centers of excellence as well as the global engagement efforts for the College.

      Professor Aier also serves as one of five members on the Cost Accounting Standards Board, an independent statutorily established federal government body within the Office of Management and Budget under the Executive Office of the US President to achieve uniformity and consistency in cost accounting practices in contracts with the US government and institutions.

    • [Panelist] Hoyoung Kim, Public Policy Principal, Amazon Web Services Korea

      Mr. Hoyoung Kim is a Public Policy Principal at Amazon Web Services Korea where he spent 6+ years covering issues including cloud infrastructure, energy, financial services, trade, competition and many others and government relations of the company. Previously, Ho Young was a Government Relations lead at eBay Korea (2016-2019), and a leader in corporate PR and Government Affairs at American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (2006-2015). Ho Young earned a M.A. in Public Policy from KDI School of Public Policy and Management.
    • [Moderator] Jay Yeon, VP of Global Business Development, CODIT

      Jay is a seasoned external affairs and strategy professional with over 16 years of experience across the technology, media, and consulting sectors. He currently serves as Vice President of Global Business Development at CODIT, an AI-powered policy monitoring firm, and has previously led government relations and business strategy at leading companies including Uber, Netflix, Kakao, and SK.

      Jay has deep expertise in regulatory affairs, stakeholder engagement, and international policy landscapes, with a strong track record of connecting corporate innovation with dynamic legislative and regulatory environments across Asia.

      He is fluent in Korean and English, proficient in French, and has successfully led numerous international projects across both public and private sectors.
