    About the Speaker
    • Kim Moon Soo, Presidential Candidate, People Power Party

The Honorable Kim Moon Soo, former Minister of Labor in the Yoon Seuk Yeol administration, is now the presidential candidate representing the People Power Party for the 21st presidential election, scheduled for June 3.

With deep roots in the labor movement, Candidate Kim was actively involved in labor and democratization efforts in the 1970s. He later entered politics, joining the conservative Democratic Freedom Party, and served as a Member of the National Assembly for Bucheon Sosa-gu, Gyeonggi Province from 1996 to 2006. He went on to serve as the 32nd and 33rd Governor of Gyeonggi Province from 2006 to 2014.

Kim previously was a presidential primary candidate in the 18th presidential election under the Saenuri Party. In 2016, he was selected as the Saenuri Party candidate for Daegu Suseong-gu in the general election, and in 2018, he was the Liberty Korea Party’s candidate for Seoul Mayor.

In September 2022, Kim was appointed Chairman of the Economic, Social, and Labor Commission, a ministerial-level position under President Yoon. He subsequently served as Minister of Labor until April 2025.

Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Seoul National University.
