AMCHAM Explores Measures for Cultivating a Robust Workforce in the New Era

Sharing insights in building a stronger and sustainable workforce by navigating the ever-evolving landscape of labor trends, policies, and regulations

This event explored the theme, “Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Workforce in Times of Change and Opportunity.” Representatives from both public and private sectors as well as academia and HR leads from the global companies joined the seminar to share their insights on elements companies should consider in creating a work environment that supports employee well-being and productivity in the post-COVID corporate space.

In his opening remarks, AMCHAM Chairman & CEO James Kim said, “Employee well-being is at the core of building a stronger and more sustainable workforce. As we continue to navigate our way through the ‘post-pandemic era’ with a workforce that is more diverse than ever before, we now have to prioritize implementing long-term strategies to care for all employees.”

He added, “I am confident that today’s event will be a great opportunity for all of us to identify critical factors in shaping a healthier future of work and explore some of the practical steps to a resilient and sustainable workforce.”

H.E. Lee Chang-Gil, Director General of Labor-Management Cooperation Policy at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, delivered congratulatory remarks. “Over the past year, the new government has focused on labor reforms to protect the weak, build a win-win and solidary labor market,” he said. “These efforts will not only help in building a sustainable labor market and co-prosperity between labor and the management but will also enhancing labor productivity and corporate competitiveness in the long run.”

"The Ministry of Employment and Labor, along with the Ministry of Industry, KOTRA, and the Labor-Management Development Foundation, will continue to support foreign-invested companies to understand and adapt to Korea's changing employment and labor policies and environment and to invest more in Korea," he added.”

The seminar featured presentations by representatives of PERSOKELLY, Moderna, Kim & Chang, G-P, and Chung Ang University on the following topics: “Employee Engagement for Quiet Quitting Generation, Mind Matters: Best Practice of Employee Wellness in the Post-COVID Corporate Space,” “Helping to Protect People and Businesses,” “Navigating Labor Policies and Regulations for HR Professionals,” “Establishing and Expanding a Global Workforce,” and “The Era of Digital Singularity: Changes and New Opportunities in HR.”

The event featured a panel discussion that delved into a variety of crucial themes, such as cultivating a strong and thriving workforce, new HR legislation, and expanding global workforce operations. These insightful conversations shed light on essential aspects affecting organizations and presented practical strategies to effectively tackle them. The panel consisted of executives from Google Korea, PERSOLKELLY Consulting, Moderna, Kim & Chang, and G-P.

‘2023 암참 HR 워크숍 개최’ 

끊임없이 변화하는 HR 분야 최신 동향, 정책 및 규정 등의 탐색을 통해 강력하고 지속가능한 인력 구성 대한 통찰 공유

2023년 06월 16일 – 주한미국상공회의소(암참; 회장 겸 대표이사 제임스 김)는 오늘 오전 콘래드 서울 호텔에서 ‘2023 HR 워크숍’을 개최했다.   

다수의 글로벌 기업 HR 리더를 포함하여 공공·민간, 학계 등 다양한 분야에의 이해관계자가 참석한 가운데, 금년 워크숍은 ‘변화와 기회의 시대 회복탄력적이고 지속가능한 인력 창출’을 주제로 포스트 코로나 시대에 직원 복지 증진과 생산성 향상을 위한 근무환경 조성을 위해 기업이 고려해야 할 요소에 대한 의견을 교환하는 시간을 가졌다.   

제임스 김 암참 회장 겸 대표이사는 개회사를 통해 “직원의 안녕과 복지는 더욱 강력하고 지속가능한 인력 구축을 위한 핵심 요소”라고 말하며, “그 어느 때보다 다양해진 근무 방식으로 포스트 팬데믹 시대를 헤쳐 나가기 위해서는 직원 모두를 위한 장기적 전략 실현이 최우선 과제.” 라고 덧붙였다. 그는 또한 “오늘 암참의 HR 워크숍이 더 건강한 근무환경을 형성하는데 중요한 요소들을 식별하고, 탄력적이고 지속가능한 인력 조성을 위한 실질적인 구상을 시작할 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것으로 확신한다.” 라고 말했다.  

이창길 고용노동부 노사협력정책관은 또한, 축사를 통해, “새 정부는 출범 후 지난 1년 동안 공정하고 상식이 바로 서고 진정한 약자보호와 상생과 연대의 노동시장을 구축하기 위한 노동개혁에 온 역량을 집중하였다.”라고 말하며, “정부가 추진 중인 노동개혁을 통해 노사가 상생하고 지속 가능한 노동시장을 구축할 뿐 아니라 장기적으로는 노동생산성을 높이고 기업의 경쟁력을 높이는 기반이 될 것.” 이라고 덧붙였다. 그는 또한, “고용노동부는 앞으로도 산업부, 코트라, 노사발전재단 등과 함께 외국인 투자기업이 한국의 변화하는 고용노동정책과 환경을 이해할 수 있도록 돕고 이를 통해 더 한국에 더 많이 투자하고 원활한 기업 활동을 할 수 있도록 지속적으로 지원하겠다” 라고 말했다.  

이번 세미나에서는 퍼솔켈리 컨설팅, 모더나, 김·장 법률사무소, G-P 및 중앙대학교에서 연사로 참석하여, “변화하는 시대, 변화하는 직원 몰입, 코로나19 이후 기업 공간에서 직원 건강을 위한 모범 사례,” “직원과 비즈니스 보호 지원,”“인사 담당자를 위한 노동 정책 및 규제 환경 탐색,”“글로벌 인력 구축 및 확장,” 및 ”디지털 특이점의 시대, HR의 변화와 새로운 기회” 등을 주제로 발표를 이었다.  

이어진 패널토론에서는 ‘회복탄력적 인력 구축’을 주제로 강력하고 성공적인 인력 양성, 노동 관련 정책 업데이트, 글로벌 인력 운영 확대 등 다양한 주제에 대한 통찰력 있는 대화를 통해 조직에 영향을 미치는 주요 요소와 이를 효과적으로 해결하기 위한 실질적 전략을 제시했다. 한편 이날 패널토론은 구글 코리아, 퍼솔켈리 컨설팅, 모더나, 김·장 법률사무소, G-P 임원으로 구성되었다.
