AMCHAM visits Washington D.C. to solidify the U.S.-Korea Alliance on its 70th Anniversary

- AMCHAM to carry out “Washington Doorknock” program between October 24-26, 2023 -

October 23, 2023 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM; Chairman and CEO James Kim) is traveling with a delegation of top-level executives from the AMCHAM community to Washington D.C. this week to meet with key figures of the Biden Administration and Congress.

The annual AMCHAM “Doorknock” program enables key representatives of the global business community in Korea to meet with policymakers and stakeholders in the U.S. government to share insights and provide data that highlight the benefits of the U.S.-Korea trade relationship. This year, the Doorknock visit will run from Tuesday, October 24, to Thursday, October 26.

The delegation has secured approximately 30 meetings with officials from various sections of the U.S. Government Administration, including the Department of Commerce, the Department of State, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the United States Trade Representative, and the White House. The itinerary also includes meetings with the offices of several members of Congress from both political parties, including Senators Jon Ossoff (D-GA), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Todd Young (R-IN), Mitt Romney (R-UT) as well as Young Kim (R-CA), Andy Kim (D-NJ), and more. The group will also be meeting with Kurt Campbell, Deputy Assistant to the President and Coordinator for Indo-Pacific Affairs on the National Security Council.

Through these meetings, the delegates plan to underscore the enduring robust U.S.-Korea bilateral relationship, commemorating 70 years of shared achievements. A key message will center on the commitment to deepen the strategic economic and technology partnerships between the two countries. The delegation will also engage in discussions surrounding the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, exploring ways to optimize its various facets.

암참, 한미동맹 70주년 맞아 양국 관계 공고화 위해 美 워싱턴 D.C. 방문 

- 암참 “2023 워싱턴 도어녹 프로그램” 오는 10월 24일부터 26일까지 진행 -  

총 사흘간 커트 캠벨, 존 오소프, 테드 크루즈, 토드 영, 미트 롬니, 영 김, 앤디 김 등 30여 개 고위급 인사와 시리즈 미팅 예정 

2023년 10월 23일 – 주한미국상공회의소(암참; 회장 겸 대표이사 제임스 김) 대표단이 바이든 행정부와 美 의회 주요 인사와의 주요 만남을 위해 이번 주 미국 워싱턴 D.C.를 방문한다.  

연례로 개최되는 암참의 “도어녹 프로그램”은 한국 內 글로벌 비즈니스 커뮤니티를 대표하는 대표단이 미국 정부의 정책 입안자 및 이해관계자들과 만나 한·미 무역의 성과와 산업군별 현안 및 인사이트를 공유하는 자리로, 올해는 美 현지 시간 10월 24일 화요일부터 10월 26일 목요일까지 사흘간 이어질 예정이다.  

대표단은 미 상무부, 국무부, 세관국경보호국(CBP), 무역대표부, 백악관을 비롯하여 행정부 각 부·처 주요 관계자 및 상원의원 등 약 30개의 고위관료급 회의를 앞두고 있는 가운데, 국가안전보장회의(NSC) 인도태평양 조정관을 맡고 있는 커트 캠벨을 비롯, 존 오소프 조지아주 상원의원, 테드 크루즈 텍사스주 상원의원, 토드 영 인디애나주 상원의원, 미트 롬니 유타주 상원의원실, 영 김 캘리포니아주 하원의원, 앤디 김 뉴저지주 하원의원 등과의 미팅이 일정에 포함되어 있다.

한미동맹 70주년을 맞이하는 올해 특별히 대표단은 주요 미팅 등을 통해 지난 70년간 양국의 공동 업적을 기념하며 굳건한 한미 관계를 강조하고 재확인하는 시간을 가질 예정이다. 양국의 강력한 경제협력 관계의 성과를 기념하는 동시에, 상호간 더욱 강력해진 경제 및 기술 파트너십 심화를 위한 노력에 초점을 맞출 방침이다. 대표단은 또한 인도·태평양 경제 프레임워크를 다방면으로 검토하며 최적화 방안을 모색하는 논의의 자리가 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
