Nov 2, 2015 (SEOUL) ? AMCHAM announced today that its President, Amy Jackson, will leave Korea in January of next year to take a new job in the Asia-Pacific region, the details of which will be announced at a later time.

?

Ms. Jackson has served as the AMCHAM President since August of 2009. With AMCHAM’s recent celebration of its 60th anniversary in Korea as a backdrop, Ms. Jackson has helped position AMCHAM well for its next 60 years. In particular, Ms. Jackson has worked hard to provide significant value for AMCHAM members, which helped create a “win-win” environment for both U.S. and Korean stakeholders. We are also fortunate that Ms. Jackson has built a solid team of AMCHAM leaders who will ensure the on-going success of the organization.

Under Ms. Jackson’s leadership, AMCHAM was instrumental in the passage of the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (“KORUS FTA”). Over the last six years, AMCHAM has also launched new business events highlighting key sectors of the economy, including seminars on the KORUS FTA, an annual Healthcare Innovation Seminar, and a bilateral ICT public-private sector dialogue. AMCHAM has also engaged in numerous Corporate Social Responsibility activities, including Innovation Camps focused on mentoring Korean college students, and created the AMCHAM Council on Innovation for the Future designed to support the Park Geun-Hye administration.

AMCHAM Chairman James Kim stated that, “Ms. Jackson has led AMCHAM with dedication and passion for the last 6+ years which has elevated AMCHAM to a new level of relevance and standing in the Korean community. AMCHAM is in a stronger and sounder position thanks to Ms. Jackson’s leadership, and as we look to the future, the organization stands fully prepared to address future challenges and seize new opportunities.

Ms. Jackson has been and will continue to be one of Korea’s biggest cheerleaders, and I believe that she has made a real impact on U.S.-Korea economic and trade relations. Ms. Jackson will be sorely missed by the entire Board of Governors and the team at AMCHAM Korea. We are excited about Ms. Jackson’s new position and wish her the best in her future endeavors.”

AMCHAM Korea was founded in 1953, with a broad mandate to encourage the development of investment and trade between the Republic of Korea and the United States. AMCHAM is the largest foreign chamber in Korea with around 800 member companies with diverse interests and substantial participation in the Korean economy.

?암참 에이미 잭슨 대표 이한 (離韓)

2015년 11월 2일 - 주한미국상공회의소(이하 ‘암참’)는 에이미 잭슨 암참 대표가 아시아 태평양 지역 내에서 맡게 될 새 임무를 위해 내년 1월 한국을 떠날 것이며, 상세한 임무 내용은 곧 발표될 예정이라고 밝혔다.

에이미 잭슨 대표는 2009년 8월 암참의 대표로 취임했다. 잭슨 대표는 최근 한국에서 암참의 60주년을 전환점으로 삼아, 암참의 향후 60년의 방향을 새롭게 설정하는데 이바지해왔다. 특히, 잭슨 대표는 한미 양국의 이해당사자들이 상생할 수 있는 환경을 조성하여, 회원사들에 도움이 되기위해 노력했다. 에이미 잭슨 대표는 또한 암참이 지속적으로 성장이 가능한 탄탄한 조직력을 갖춘 팀을 구성한 점에 대해서도 높이 평가받고 있다.

에이미 잭슨 대표의 임기 동안 암참은 한미 FTA를 체결하는 과정에서 결정적인 역할을 했다. 지난 6년간 암참은 KORUS FTA 세미나, 연례 보건의료혁신 세미나, 그리고 한미 정부 산업계간 ICT 포럼 등과 같은 경제의 핵심 주제들과 관련된 다양한 행사들을 개최했다. 또한, 대학생들에게 멘토십을 제공하는 혁신 캠프와 박근혜 정부의 창조 경제 기조에 발맞춘 암참 미래혁신위원회를 신설하는 등 다양한 사회공헌활동을 펼쳐왔다.

김 제임스 암참 회장은 이에 대해 “지난 6년간 잭슨 대표의 암참에 대한 열정과 헌신이 한국 사회 내에서의 암참의 위상을 높였다. 잭슨 대표의 리더십으로 인해 암참은 더욱 튼튼하고 견고한 위치에 섰으며, 앞으로 있을 변화에 대응하고 새로운 기회를 잡을 준비가 돼 있다.”고 말했다. 또한, “잭슨 대표는 계속해서 한국을 응원하는 최고의 치어리더로 남을 것이며, 한미 경제와 무역 관계에 있어 잭슨 대표가 중요한 영향력을 미쳤다고 믿는다. 암참과 이사진 모두는 잭슨 대표를 잊지 못할 것이다. 잭슨 대표가 맡게 될 새로운 임무에 대해서도 기대가 되며, 건승을 바란다.”고 밝혔다.
