AMCHAM Invites CEOs of Multinational Companies to Engage in Dialogue on Enhancing Global Competitiveness of Korean Youth

-AMCHAM Holds “Innovation Camp” for Participants of Seoul Metropolitan Government Internship Program-

November 30, 2021 - The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM Korea) holds a virtual Innovation Camp program this afternoon for about 67 participants who have completed a three-month internship as part of the AMCHAM - Seoul Metropolitan Government Internship Program, which includes 21 AMCHAM member companies.

The Innovation Camp, which began with a greeting from Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and AMCHAM Chairman & CEO James Kim, invited five of the AMCHAM members who participated in the Internship Program (Coca-Cola, GM Korea, McDonald’s Korea, PERSOLKELLY, and Qualcomm) to share each company’s latest updates, talent, and internship experiences. The event featured special lectures from each company’s CEO and presentations about the internship.

James Kim, AMCHAM Chairman & CEO, said, "I am thankful to Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and his team at the Seoul Metropolitan Government and AMCHAM member companies for their support of this meaningful internship program.” He added, “AMCHAM will continue to collaborate with Seoul Metropolitan Government so that young jobseekers can find opportunities at excellent multinational companies and develop into global leaders. I will do everything I can to support the bright future of young people and the future of Korea.”

The Seoul Metropolitan Government Internship Program combines job education with internship. AMCHAM has contributed to Seoul City’s job creation efforts this year by actively encouraging major AMCHAM member companies to participate in the program. AMCHAM and Seoul Government pledged to continue to collaborate in strengthening the competitiveness of industries and create greater synergy in fostering talent.

AMCHAM members who participated in the internship program include Visa, 3M, AIA, Amway, Coca-Cola, Cummins, GM Korea, Johnson & Johnson, Lime, Lockheed Martin, McDonald's, Medtronic, MetLife, Otis, Qualcomm, Robert Walters, Ronald McDonald's House, Seoul Foreign School.

암참, 글로벌 기업 CEO 멘토로 초청해 대한민국 청년들의 글로벌 경쟁력 강화를 위한 대화 자리 마련

- ‘서울형 청년인턴 직무캠프’ 수료자 대상 이노베이션 캠프(Innovation Camp) 개최 -

2021년 11월 30일 - 주한미국상공회의소(암참; 회장 겸 대표이사 제임스 김)가 오늘 오후 온라인으로 ‘이노베이션 캠프(Innovation Camp)’를 개최한다. 이번 행사는 ‘서울형 청년인턴 직무캠프’에 참여한 21개의 암참 회원사에서 3개월간의 인턴 과정을 수료한 67명의 청년들을 위한 자리이다.

오세훈 서울시장과 제임스 김 암참 회장 겸 대표이사의 인사말로 시작된 ‘이노베이션 캠프(Innovation Camp)’는 ‘서울형 청년인턴 직무캠프’에 참여했던 암참 회원사 중 5개 기업(코카콜라, 한국지엠, 맥도날드, 퍼솔켈리, 퀄컴)을 초청하여 각 기업 최신 업데이트와 인재상, 그간의 인턴 경험 등을 공유하는 특별한 자리로, CEO들의 특강과 인턴 활동 후기 발표로 채워진 인턴 간담회로 구성되었다.

제임스 김 암참 회장 겸 대표이사는 인사말을 통해 먼저, “‘서울형 청년인턴 직무캠프’가 성료될 수 있도록 애써 주신 오세훈 서울시장님과 관계자 여러분, 뜻깊은 인턴십 프로그램에 흔쾌히 함께해준 암참 회원사에 깊이 감사드린다.” 라고 말했다. 그는 이어 “암참이 청년 구직자들과 세계 유수 글로벌 기업의 가교가 되어 기회를 제공할 수 있음에 큰 보람을 느낀다. 앞으로도 암참은 서울시와 더욱 긴밀히 협력하여 더 많은 청년 구직자들이 우수 글로벌 기업에 자리를 잡고 나아가 글로벌 리더로 성장할 수 있는 여건 조성을 위해 힘쓸 것이다. 대한민국의 미래인 우리 청년들의 밝은 앞날을 아버지의 마음으로 응원한다” 라고 덧붙였다.

‘서울형 청년인턴 직무캠프’는 직무교육과 인턴십을 접목시킨 형태의 인턴십 프로그램으로, 암참은 올 한 해 주요 암참 회원사들에게 본 프로그램에의 참여를 적극 독려하는 등 서울시의 일자리 창출 노력에 함께해왔다. 암참과 서울시는 앞으로도 다양한 협업을 통해 상호 지속적으로 교류하며, 관련 산업의 경쟁력 강화와 인재 양성에 더 큰 시너지 효과를 낼 수 있도록 긴밀히 협력하여 나갈 것을 약속했다.

이번 인턴십 프로그램에 참여한 암참 회원사로는 비자코리아, 3M, AIA, 암웨이, 코카콜라, 커민스, 한국지엠, 존슨앤존슨, 라임, 록히드 마틴, 맥도날드, 메드트로닉, 메트라이프생명, 오티스, 퀄컴, 로버트 월터스, 로널드맥도널드하우스, 서울 외국인학교 등이 있다.
