IVI’s 16th Vaccinology Course

Objective

IVI’s Vaccinology Course is one of the longest running vaccinology courses in Asia. It aims to promote vaccine sustainability in developing countries by capacity-building. The course trains vaccine professionals from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in vaccinology and fosters development of collaborative networks and partnerships among LMICs

 

Description

 The five-day course provides a comprehensive overview of vaccinology starting with fundamentals in epidemiology and immunology and moving from concepts and issues related to vaccine discovery, development, and introduction. The course is a combination of lectures and interactive case studies that are presented and facilitated by international experts from academia, industry, and global public health.


Course faculty members have included: World Health Organization, icddr,b, U.S. National Institutes of Health, Pfizer, GSK, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Gavi, Johns Hopkins University, Seoul National University, IVI

 

Who Should Apply?

IVI’s Vaccinology Course is open to all applicants working in the field of vaccinology. It is recommended that applicants have a background in vaccines and/or vaccination. The working language of the course is English. No translations or interpretations will be provided.

 

Fellowships

Fellowships are competitively awarded to participants with demonstrated financial need. As a fellow, your course participation, including registration and accommodation fees will be covered by the institute. To be considered for a fellowship you must complete the application form and submit it by July 21, 2016. After all applications have been reviewed, IVI will contact all successful applicants of their acceptance as a fellowship recipient.

Location

The course will be held at the International Vaccine Institute, located at Seoul National University (SNU) Research Park, Seoul, Korea. Accommodations will be arranged by the International Vaccine Institute.

 

Costs
Registration fee:US $ 2,500.The fee covers the cost of the course, including lunch and full attendance of the course for 5 days, and course materials.

Accommodation fee:US $ 1,500.The fee covers the cost of hotel for duration of the course, airport pick-up and ground transportation between hotel and IVI.

Total Course fee: US $4,000

 

*For individuals in Seoul who wish to attend the course but not for the full five days, the fee is $300 per day.

The 15th Annual International Vaccinology Course in the Asia-Pacific Region held on May 11-15, 2015 at IVI headquarters in Seoul, Korea saw over 150 participants from 25 countries, including Bhutan, China, Nepal, Sudan, Switzerland, and Vietnam. The participants were a diverse mix, consisting of scientists, public health officials, and policymakers from private and public sectors, and ten fellowships were awarded to individuals from countries such as Ethiopia, India, Vietnam to attend.
