LG Engergy Solution awarded for job creation
BY KIM SU-HYEON, Korea JoongAng Daily - In September, LG Energy Solution listed its name on the "2023 Korea's Top 100 Companies for Job Creation" by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
Earlier in the year,
it was also the sole domestic battery company to earn the title of "2023
Best Place to Work in South Korea" by GPTW (Great Place to Work).
As evidence of LG's
ongoing commitment to cultivate a happy workplace culture, the number of
employees has rapidly increased from 7,500 in 2020 to 11,700 in the second
quarter of 2023, and over 98 percent of all employees are full-time workers.
In response to the
demand for 'work-life balance' and a 'flexible, free working environment,' the
company operates a total of 101 base offices nationwide, allowing executives
and employees to work more efficiently while reducing the time wasted on long commutes.
Childcare leave was
also extended from 1 year to 2 years, and female worker protection policies
such as maternity leave and infertility leave were implemented.
In addition, the
wage system has been overhauled. The company implemented bold double-digit pay
increases in both 2021 and 2022 as well as the new pay system taking into
account individual competitiveness and performance, to maximize employee’s
capability.
In May, career
concert C'talk G'talk (with C standing for Charge and G for Grow) was held at
Ochang Energy plant, where employees from different departments could
participate to enhance their understanding of each other's work and share their
concerns and growth experiences related to their careers.
These advanced
organizational cultures were made possible under the leadership of Kwon
Young-soo, CEO of LG Energy Solution, who regards employee happiness as the
best corporate value.
After his
inauguration, an open communication channel called 'Entalk' was launched, which
facilitates direct and frank communication between employees and CEO, creating
a more parallel work culture.
“LG Energy Solution,
as the No. 1 battery industry in Korea, is emerging as a top choice among Gen
Z, due to its proactive efforts in advancing the working environment across all
sectors” an official from the battery industry said.
