AMCHAM Education Committee Meeting
DATE & TIME

Tuesday, October 24, 2023

11:30 AM - 1:30 PM

VENUE

Andaz Seoul Gangnam, Studio 3 (B2)

EVENT DESCRIPTION
Revolutionary advancements in artificial intelligence are changing the world around us with astounding and accelerating speed. There have been news reports about Google’s AI-powered medical chatbot successfully passing the US Medical Licensing Exam, and AI-driven ChatGPT3 passing the final exam at UPenn’s Wharton School. As AI evolves, it can conduct many technical functions more efficiently than humans. This opens debate about liberal arts education for the future workforce. Studying the liberal arts help build broadly applicable skills in persuasive writing, critically analyzing sources of information, and communicating effectively with others. But when AI can generate an essay in moments and pass professional exams, are these competencies becoming obsolete? Far from it! Technological change is making education in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences even more valuable.
