Dear AMCHAM Members,
The Korean Government has announced a revised order regarding the recent
COVID-19 testing requirement for all foreign workers and foreign business
owners in Seoul.
Under the new order, foreign workers and business owners in Seoul are
ONLY advised to test for COVID-19 and it is NOT mandatory.
The penalty clause has obviously been removed.
Please see the attachment for details. (Only the Korean version is available at
present).
AMCHAM greatly appreciates the willingness of the Korean Government to listen and
promptly respond to the concerns and recommendations of AMCHAM and the foreign
business community. Korea continues to be a model for the world to follow in
its response to the pandemic.
Foreign Investment Ombudsman Kim Sung Jin played a critical role in amplifying
and supporting our voices to Korea’s decision makers this week. Five-term
National Assemblyman H.E. Lee Sang-min from the ruling party also played an
important role in raising awareness of this issue with the key stakeholders.
Lastly, we would like to thank our valued members for actively communicating
their concerns and ideas with us on this matter. We remain committed to
fighting for our members and the international business community in Korea.
Thank you.
