AMCHAM and Tools for Humanity Unite to Launch “#IAmHuman” Educational Campaign in Korea

New partnership aims to advocate for the success of Tools for Humanity’s initiative to protect

personal information in an AI-powered economy and support AMCHAM’s efforts to foster secure business environment

September 3, 2024 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM Korea; Chairman & CEO James Kim) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Tools for Humanity Corporation (TFH) today to launch the “#IAmHuman” Educational Campaign in Korea.

The MOU is designed to support TFH’s initiatives in expanding the Worldcoin project and safeguarding personal identity within an AI-driven economy, while also aligning with AMCHAM’s efforts to foster a secure business environment that empowers companies to engage with and benefit from the evolving global AI landscape.

The signing ceremony, attended by key policymakers including National Assemblyman Ahn Cheol-soo and Kang Hoon-sik, and industry experts, underscored a shared commitment to addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital economy. This collaboration is set to play a role in enhancing personal identity protection online as technological advancements continue to reshape the global landscape.

This agreement outlines a collaborative approach for AMCHAM and TFH to advocate for the benefits of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, personal identity protection, and digital trust. Both organizations are committed to enhancing digital literacy and promoting a deeper understanding of personal identity protection in the digital age.

Furthermore, the MOU includes a joint effort to develop policy recommendations designed to better safeguard personal identity within the digital and AI economy. These recommendations will address key issues such as cyber risk mitigation and fostering inclusive participation in AI-driven economic growth.

At the MOU ceremony, AMCHAM Chairman & CEO James Kim and Tools for Humanity CEO & Co-Founder Alex Blania engaged in a Fireside Chat, where they discussed the importance of proof of humanness in the age of AI. Their discussion also explored the broader implications for businesses and society, emphasizing the need to balance innovation with the security of personal identities.

As part of their agreement, AMCHAM and TFH will jointly organize seminars and support conferences focused on AI and personal identity protection. This initiative aims to enhance public understanding, promote digital literacy, and strengthen security across Korea.

Tools for Humanity, founded by Alex Blania (CEO) and Sam Altman (Chairman), is a technology company built to ensure a more just economic system. Currently, the company is focused on developing tools for Worldcoin and beyond.

2024년 9월 3일 – 주한미국상공회의소(암참; 회장 겸 대표이사 제임스 김)가 오늘 오후 툴스 포 휴머니티(Tools for Humanity Corporation, TFH)와 '#IAMHuman' 캠페인 론칭을 위한 상호협력 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다.

이번 협약은 AI 주도 경제 內에서 월드코인 프로젝트 확장과 개인 정보 보안 강화를 위한 TFH의 이니셔티브를 지원함과 동시에, 기업들이 보다 안전한 비즈니스 환경에서 글로벌 AI 시장에 적응하고 그 혜택을 누릴 수 있도록 하는데 중점을 두고 있다.

안철수, 강훈식 의원을 비롯 주요 업계 전문가가 참석한 가운데 체결된 이번 MOU는 디지털 경제에서 수반되는 다양한 이슈와 기회에 공동으로 대응하여 나가고자 하는 양사의 강력한 의지를 반영하고 있으며, 기술 발전이 세계 경제 지형을 재편하고 있는 가운데 온라인상의 개인 정보 보호를 강화하는 데 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

양사는 향후 본 파트너십을 토대로 인공지능(AI), 블록체인, 개인 정보 보호 및 디지털 신뢰 구축 등 신기술의 장점을 널리 알리기 위한 협력과, 디지털 리터러시 향상 및 디지털 시대 개인 정보 보호의 중요성을 더욱 강화하기 위한 노력에 힘을 보태기로 약속했다.

또한 디지털· AI 경제 내에서 보다 강력한 개인 정보 보안 강화를 위해, 사이버 위험 완화 및 AI 주도 경제 성장에 대한 포괄적 참여 촉진 등을 포함하는 정책 권고안 마련 측면에서도 협업해 나갈 방침이다.
