1.Committee's Mission Statement

The mission of the Population Healthcare & Technology committee is to support a more sustainable healthcare ecosystem, helping AMCHAM and its members develop innovative solutions to improve health outcomes for the Korean population, at lower cost. This committee aims to source global best practices and thought leadership on the better use of big & small data, advanced analytic techniques (Descriptive, Predictive, Prescriptive), innovative disease management and care delivery models etc. Healthcare is a broad & rapidly advancing sector with increasing focus on more preventative, personalized and precision care solutions. Optimizing the Korean healthcare ecosystem requires strong collaboration from the many stakeholders involved, including but not limited to consumers, government, re/insurers, medical providers and other healthcare services companies

2. Activities in Support of the Mission

The committee organizes regular meetings and event-based seminars, typically involving guest speakers (often subject matter experts) from Healthcare service providers/consultants, National Health Services, Korean Government Ministries, Medical Industry Associations and Public Health Academia. Types of topics for discussion could include:

• Sustainable healthcare financing (role of government, private sector & the consumer)

• Challenges & Opportunities of a Rapidly Aging population  

• Importance of ‘Total Health’ - Physical, emotional, financial & other social determinants of health

• Dis/Advantages of Value Based Care

• Identification and reduction of systemic Fraud, Waste & Abuse

• Drivers of Chronic Disease, Solutions for management/reduction

• Leveraging data & technology (Analytics, Machine Learning, AI, IoT, Wearables, Sensors, Genomics, Virtual Health models etc.
