Joe ErlingerPresident, High Growth Markets
Joe Erlinger is currently President, McDonald’s High Growth Market Segment, a position he has held since September 2016. In this role, he has overall responsibility for nearly 5,500 McDonald’s restaurants across nine growth markets including China, Hong Kong, Korea, Poland, and Russia.
Joe started his McDonald’s career in 2002 working in Strategy and New Business Development. He quickly advanced through the management ranks to become a Senior Director and Special Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s Corporation. Joe participated in an intensive two-year Operations Training Program which prepared him for line level positions. He took on regional leadership roles with increasing responsibilities for McDonald’s in the United States culminating with him being named Vice President and General Manager of a region comprising 600 restaurants across six states generating $1.5B in sales. Taking on his first international assignment, Joe became Managing Director of McDonald’s Korea, a position he held from May 2013 until February 2016. Most recently, Joe was CFO of the McDonald’s High Growth Market Segment, a position he held from July 2015 until December 2016.
Prior to McDonald’s, Joe worked in Finance with AT&T Corporation, and in the management consulting industry. He holds a Finance degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, US. Joe is a Vice Chairman of the AMCHAM Korea Board of Governors and Board Member of Ronald McDonald House Charities - Korea. He and his wife Linda reside in Seoul, Korea with their three children. Joe enjoys cooking, traveling, and following the Los Angeles Lakers and Dodgers.
